Signs to look for

What are the signs of Dyslexia in Adults?

Dyslexia can be diagnosed at any age. Adults may seek a diagnosis for university (DSA) or for the first time. Consider the following questions:

? Is there any dyslexia in the family?
? Do you reverse letters or numbers (e.g. b's and d's, or 6 and 9)?
? Difficulties remembering verbal instructions, especially if there are more than one?
? Do you have any visual difficulties — does print jump about on the page?
? Have you had problems learning to drive?
? Can you sequence the alphabet automatically, or know the days of the week in order?
? Do you feel you have problems with spelling?
? Are you disorganised and/or have difficulty telling the time?
? Problems with mental maths or times tables?
? Good vocabulary but difficulty putting ideas down on paper?
The assessment process

What happens in an assessment?

🧠

Memory and phonological awareness tests provide the diagnostic evidence needed for a full report and recommendations.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a full assessment for Access to Work?

Not always. Some Access to Work applications accept a screener, which we can provide from £125. However, a full diagnostic assessment gives you a comprehensive report and is recommended for long-term support.

How long does a full assessment take?

A full diagnostic assessment typically lasts around 3 hours, with breaks provided throughout. Some tests are timed while others are not.

When will I receive my report?

Your detailed written report will be sent within 15 working days of your assessment. A free follow-up session is always offered to discuss the findings.

Can assessments be done online?

Yes, we offer both online and in-person assessments. Online assessments are conducted via Zoom and are equally valid for DSA and Access to Work applications.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Assessments cannot be guaranteed to be rescheduled to a later date and may be charged if cancelled. Please let us know as early as possible if you need to make changes.
